Lydia Grace

I know it has been a while, but now you know what we have all been waiting for! On September 12th, 2007, Lydia Grace was born at the home of Mum & Dad in Tyrone, Georgia. I have to say, it is great to be done with the pregnancy, but it is on with those little sleep nights, and a noisy, albeit excited household! She is a beauty, needless to say, and weighing a mere 7lbs 5oz is a feather compared to the other four.

Ellan Wins County Prize for Art

On Monday, the whole Harman family attended a Talent Competition and prize giving ceremony at a local school. Ellan won fourth prize in her age group with her drawing of a Bluejay (a local bird).

The competition was a county-wide competition, and Ellan's drawing was selected from a total of 167 entries. Ellan presented herself well on stage as she received her prize, and we are all proud of her. Our thanks also go to Ellan's art teacher who taught her as part of the Home Schooling group some OM mothers do together every Friday.

Over the last few nights, Rebekah has learned how to climb out of her cot, and has been wanting to play at 3 O'clock in the morning! The following evening, there was concern as Ellan was suffering from severe earache, which was preventing her (and Mum & Dad) from going to sleep! After enough pain killers (for Ellan) and Hot Chocolate, we were all able to settle down for the night and there has been no pain since.

50 Years of Ministry

This year marks the 50th anniversary of OM. We have come a long way from the truck load of literature that George Verwer took to Mexico with some fellow students from Moody Bible College. Despite the changes, particularly in dress codes, OM still remains focused on getting the Gospel to those that have not heard.

As the web guy at OM USA, I was involved in setting up the 50th anniversary web site which has recently been released. The site has a lot of interesting info, including a time line, a quiz, some early videos and letters from the Founder(GV) and current Director(PM). Visit the site at www.OM50.com.

Amazing Grace

Hey y'all, Nigel and I just got back from seeing the new film Amazing Grace. In case you don't know, it is about the life and passion of William Wilberforce and his determination to pass a bill in Parliament to abolish slave trading. Also in case you didn't know, he succeeded!

What struck me was his passion for what he knew was right. Oh that we would have that same passion and determination to stand up for what we know is right in a society that is ruled by wrongs!

Vacation Time

We have just got back from a vacation in North Carolina where we were able to ski for just a few days. Everyone but Rebekah made it on to the piste, even Mummy gained a heap of confidence. As you can see, Josh is skiing like a pro now, and Ben & Ellan are learning fast! Check out their video clips by clicking on the links on the right.

While on the trip, we discovered that Rebekah gets car-sick, which happened a few times while on the windy roads of the Appalachian.

When we were driving home, we just got to the traffic jams in Atlanta, when the windshield wipers decided to stop working! (not a good thing when you are driving through torrential rain!) Just as well the traffic was slow - we were able to make it home without having to stop.

Welcome to the Harman Life

Today, we finally get round to building our blog. We hope you enjoy reading what the Harmans are getting up to in the USA. We are here because we want to see people glorify God in their service all over the Globe.

Nigel and Joanne moved to Georgia in 2001 with Ben (24/SEPT/98) & Ellan (13/MAY/00) and have had two additions while living here, Joshua (2/SEPT/02) & Rebekah (31/JAN/05).
